Pouring Liquids

Pouring liquids

I’ve come to believe that most children enjoy working with water. Whether it’s splashing in the bathtub, playing in the water hose or even pouring water from one container to another.

Pouring water is task that allows children to contrate on a single task: getting the water from point A to point B. In this following photos my son is pouring water using 2 small glass vases and a stainless funnel. Because he is using glass he can see the amount of water that he has in each vase and how the amount changes as he pours.

If you’re looking for ways to add interest and challenge to this work try the following:

  1. Add food coloring to the water

  2. Use vases that are ceramic

  3. Add a funnel

  4. Trying pouring into containers of different sizes

  5. Use 3 containers

  6. Add a small funnel

  7. Use a small pitcher and cups
