IKEA Kura Reversible Bed Review

Ok everyone, here is the floor bed review. We’ve had it for 2 months and I feel confident that I’ve made all the judgments that I’m going to make and now I can document it for all the world to read. So here we go.

The purpose of the floor bed is to give the child freedom of movement. Safety is the top priority, we don’t use pillows or blankets at this age. All opinions are my own and based on my experience with the IKEA Kura Reversible bed.

PROS

  • Price $219

  • Easy to assemble (I did with my kids, yes 1 adult and 2 kids and a baby assembled this bed)

  • Aesthetically pleasing – pine and white boards coordinate well

  • Various way to assemble (floor bed, bunk bed, sleeps 1 or sleeps 2, with or without ladder, )

  • Perfect for forts and play spaces

CONS

  • Wobbly (I promised is used all the screws), this bed moves way too much even when you just lean against it. Maybe if we put a mattress on the top part of the bed it would be more sturdy but I’m not sure.

  • Low clearance between bottom and top. If my toddler stands up on his bed then he hits his head on the slats.

  • Space between wall and side of the mattress.  I think the space between the wall and the mattress is too wide and small child could possibly get wedged in this this space. I rolled towels and blankets and stuffed them in this space. However, this problem could be solved if we assembled with a different configuration.

Conclusion: I would not buy this bed again. I would rather save my money and purchase the Sprouts floor bed, it’s double the cost but I have to believe it’s that much better!
